KYC Done Right: How to Start Investing in Mutual Funds

· Air Warrior Money

One-time KYC opens the door to every mutual fund in India. Here is what you need and how the process works.

Know Your Customer, or KYC, is the one-time identity verification that every mutual fund investor must complete. Finish it once and it is valid across all fund houses; you never repeat it for each AMC. For serving personnel who move frequently, the good news is that the entire process is now digital.

What you need

Keep three things handy: your PAN card, proof of address (Aadhaar works for most people), and a passport-size photograph or a live selfie for video KYC. Your mobile number should be linked to Aadhaar for OTP verification. NRIs need their overseas address proof and follow a slightly different route, which we handle case by case.

The process, start to finish

Online KYC takes about ten minutes: fill the form, upload documents, complete a short video verification, and digitally sign. Status is usually verified within a few working days, after which you can invest in any scheme, start SIPs, and transact through the Air Warrior Money app.

If your KYC was done years ago with old details, a change of address or signature is a simple modification, not a fresh application. When in doubt, send us your PAN and we will check your current KYC status before you begin.
